About this site...

Many of the photographs on this site were taken with my old but trusty Fujica ST605. I now use a Nikon D200 for most work, but the older digital photographs were taken with an Olympus Camedia C1400L or a Kodak DC240. A few of the shots were taken on colour print film, but I prefer to take transparencies, usually on Fuji Velvia or Kodak Kodachrome 64, although I use Fuji Sensia 100/200, Fuji Provia 400 or Kodak Elite 100/200 when lighting conditions are poor. Some images were scanned in using an HP or Epson scanner although the majority were transferred to Photo-CD by Kodak or to CD-ROM by Transpacolor. I use xpcd to read the Photo-CD. For image retouching and manipulation I currently use the GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP) running under Kubuntu Linux as this has a potentially powerful facility for adjusting the gamma of each colour independently to allow accurate colour balancing to be carried out. The digital photos were downloaded directly from the camera into the computer using gPhoto, which is able to communicate directly with the majority of modern digital cameras. Sound clips were recorded on a JVC stereo cassette deck, converted into digital form by a Soundblaster card, then encoded into Ogg Vorbis format using the reference encoder software from Vorbis.com.

Last Site Update 22nd August 2007

I hope you enjoy the photographs!Pete
