RSS Information |

RSS, or RDF Site Summary, is a way of providing the internet user with an easily accessible summary of frequently changing
information on the internet. One of the first uses was to provide news headlines, but now many other uses have been found
such as summaries of weblogs or blogs and site contents summaries. Each stream of information is known as an RSS channel
or RSS feed.

By way of an example, here is this site's 'Old Rabbit's Almanac' channel displayed by
the Firefox web browser:

All you need to read RSS information is a suitable piece of software, and this software is already built in to many internet
applications such as the popular Mozilla Firefox web
browser and Mozilla Thunderbird email
client.
Many web sites now have RSS channels and will often indicate them with a link button
such as .
Applications such as Firefox can
automatically detect RSS channels associated
with a page. Firefox indicates that
a channel is available by placing an orange icon in the bottom right hand corner of the browser window:
