Here is a proposal for an icon or monogram to indicate documents in OpenDocument Format (ODF). It is hoped that web site
designers, application icon designers and operating system/desktop environment icon designers will be able to incorporate
this idea into their own icon sets, in much the same way as a red looped triangle represents PDF. This will create a common
visual identity for ODF and help speed adoption of the format.
In addition to the monogram, here are some suggested graphics to indicate the various file types:

In addition to these types it is suggested that the template types are indicated as with the corresponding documents they produce, but with a letter 'T' added rotated 130 degrees. The 'T' designates template in English, or can be imagined as a template stamper in other locales.
Here are some icons in 48x48, 32x32, 20x22 and 16x16 pixel sizes to illustrate the ideas discussed above. They may be used to indicate OpenDocument Format files on web sites, in file manager applications and on desktops.
The 48x48 and 32x32 icon sizes use alpha transparency and may not render correctly in browsers with poor standards support. If in doubt try Firefox. The 20x22 icon sizes match the style used by the Apache httpd web server.

There are some feature requests open requesting that the icons be used to denote OpenDocument Format files within certain applications, currently Moodle, Apache httpd 1 and Apache httpd 2. Please vote for these where applicable!
To facilitate making icon sets in other themes but following the visual identities used above, here is a file containing some of the graphic elements.
Here are some generic icons in a variety of sizes including 16x16, 24x24, 32x32 and 48x48.
To facilitate derivative works, the master mask for the monogram is here. The preferred fill colour (hexadecimal RGB triplet) is #333399.
The icons and buttons are trademarks of Pete Harlow.
Permission to use and/or modify these images is granted for the identification and promotion of the OpenDocument Format (ISO 26300 and any later version published by OASIS or ISO) provided you acknowledge me, Pete Harlow, if someone asks.
The 20x22 pixel and 16x16 pixel icons are also released under the Apache licence for use with the Apache HTTP Web Server.
The Tango - style icons are released under a Creative Commons licence and the Gnome - style icons under the GPL - see below for details.
