The Eiffel Tower
No set of Paris snapshots would be complete without the obligatory picture of the Eiffel Tower. This metal structure is some 324 metres tall and can be seen from all over the city.

View from the Arc de Triomphe
Climb the 500 or so steps to the top of the Arc de Triomphe and you will be rewarded with views across the rooftops of Paris, in this shot to the Eiffel Tower, but the Basilica of Sacré - Cœur on the northern horizon and la grande Arche de la Défense can also be seen clearly.

The Place du Tetre
The Place du Tetre in Montmartre is world famous for the artists who work there, and on a hot day it is a good place to enjoy a bottle of wine at one of the many cafés and watch the world go by. I first photographed this area in 1965, sadly none of the material survives.

The Basilica of Sacré - Cœur
The Basilica was designed in the romano-byzantine style by the architect Paul Abadie. The foundation stone was laid in 1875, and the Basilica was consecrated in 1919, delayed from 1914 due to the outbreak of the first world war.
